I thought it would feel great to say that. It kind of does, but I want to run three miles. I ran with kids half my age today.
Oh, and yeah. I haven't gotten around to writing about this, so I will.
First off, the Alexander McQueen Spring 2011 collection. To be honest, I started out not liking McQueen. I kind of thought he's too over-the-top and sort of sadistic that he would send the models down the runway in 12-inch armadillo heels. He does grow on you, though.
This collection is the first one not personally designed by McQueen for reasons you and I know. Still, I think if I saw this and nobody told me who designed it, I would say it's by Alexander McQueen.
I applaud Sarah Burton for managing to create a collection that's both very McQueen and toned down. She managed to somehow go in a new direction while keeping the McQueen spirit alive.
Long live McQueen.
Secondly, I...don't have anything more to add. :)

Anyone can give up, it's the easiest thing in the world to do. But to hold it together when everyone else would understand if you fell apart, that's true strength.
~Anonymous
I've just remembered, amidst the fuss about finals looming close and the semester break, that it's actually October.
You know what October means?
That's what October means. And you know what else it means?
It means I get to wear my pink cap. Not that I usually wear a cap, but now I can set myself apart from all the other people by wearing a breast cancer awareness cap.
It's for a cause. And I'm thinking of a pretty good idea.

First I said I wanted to be a thief, but that was mainly because everyone else said they wanted to be cops, and I just wanted to contradict.
~Sara Blomqvist
I just wanted to share that quote because it's cute.
Oh, and:
Speaking of my girl crushes, here's something I'd like to call "model porn":
Now. I was actually going to talk about the Hermes ensemble I showed the last time. The one with Anja. Because when I have a girl crush, I have a HUGE girl crush.
I think this ensemble (and the whole line, actually) is perfection. BUT I can't strut the streets wearing that because they would give me a pumpkin bag with sweets. Not that it's a bad thing, but everyday isn't Halloween.
BUT again, it's really just perfection. It's Sherlock Holmes-y – people call it James Bond-y but I call it Sherlock Holmes-y because it really looks like Sherlock Holmes to me – and it's a perfect excuse to wear a bowler hat AND to carry a huge umbrella. Today's umbrellas are foldable because no one likes to carry a cane. Except me.
Oh gosh.

Never be bullied into silence. Never allow yourself to be made a victim. Accept no one's definition of your life; define yourself.
~Harvey Fierstein
My dad kind of banned me to wear the Dr. Martens boots because where I go to school, the crime rate's so high. It sucks.
Luckily, I decided to stalk Anja Rubik and (just) found the beauty that is Hermés Fall 2010. Yes, please. I have that weird habit of getting attached to collections of the past seasons.
And, in my honest opinion, the ensemble worn by Anja was the best I saw in the entire show.
The good thing about this collection, for me as an inspiration, is that it's extremely understated. It's entirely black. I'm bound to be less noticeable if I wore black than if I wore what I usually wear. I've also been on the lookout for black bowler hats and plain black umbrellas that look like canes. Oh, and trousers. And a blazer.
Oh, and it featured Karlie Kloss, too:
All the crocodile leather was awesome:
And crocodile leather jackets and vests?
Oh! And Jessica Stam:
I think I'll work on this:
Forget steampunk, I'm going for this. Now I need a tailor and a shoemaker.

Balmain Spring 2011!
I was waiting for this.
What, you didn't know I was waiting for it? I did wait for it! And now here it is!
And here I am trying to review a runway show. I don't even know what it's called. Shame on me.
First of all, I think this picture would probably give you a hint:
1. I fail at games so much that I need iHaxGamez.
2. Every time I need fashion inspiration, I turn to Balmain.
3. I have found my newest girl-crush:
Although IMHO she looks better with short hair:
Rawr.
Anyway. I use Balmain for fashion inspiration because Tavi Gevinson doesn't like it.
Erm, what I mean is, she doesn't like that it's too trendy, and I like it because it's too trendy. So, if I want to know what's trending now, I turn to Balmain.
And...I'm not a big fan of today's collection. :( Maybe I should wait for fall.
Don't I suck at reviews?
If I were to say something about the collection, though, I'd say it's a bit on the rocker chic side. Which I honestly do not rock. There are shirts with stars and stripes prints, leather pants with zipper details, deconstructed shirts and lingerie as outerwear.
Also, how your clothes look after you've done a really big paint job. It has that, too. And it's probably what I like about this collection. I wouldn't call it tie-dyed because it doesn't look like the tie-dyed shirts I've seen, or maybe I just don't know what tie-dyed means. But it looks like that. Let me show you:
It has a worn-out feel, I'd give it that. But I like looking crisp and clean, so thanks.
Oh, before I forget, I wish I was but I wasn't invited to Milan Fashion Week, so I just went to Style.com and posted their pictures. These are not mine, nor do I claim them.
By the way, I think I remember reading somewhere that boys don't walk out of a party carrying their shoes.
I can't help it. And it's still from Style.com.
