Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.

~Coco Chanel

Once upon a Math class, I was relearning how to solve for mixtures when my phone rang. First, because my sister was asking where our USB modem was. Second, because my mom told me what the motif for today's Christmas party is.

Before I move on, let me tell you that my parents are members of this biking group and they hold a Christmas party every year. There's a theme every year. Last year I wasn't able to go, but two years ago they asked us to wear formal clothes and I went there decked in ribbons and lace. Beginning, middle and end of story.

Well, not really. Today's theme was Glee-inspired. How I'm supposed to go there looking Glee-inspired, I don't know, because if I went there saying I'm dressed as Kurt Hummel, they...wouldn't see it. Unless I chop my hair off and become a countertenor overnight.

I can chop my hair off but I can't carry a tune. That's why I prefer playing instruments.

Anyway, I did tell my mom that I'm either dressing up as Kurt or using him as fashion inspiration. Which is hard since I don't want Glee, so here comes CollegeFashion.net.

After reading it, though, I have come to a conclusion: I don't need new clothes. I need a tailor. Now.

Anyway, I'll let you know how it goes. But first I have to get rid of all my baggy clothes.

Patriotism is your conviction that this country is superior to all others because you were born in it.

~George Bernard Shaw

I wasn't actually born in this city and I have never set foot here until I was 4, but I love this city more than I can possibly love any other place in this country. I love this city more than I love my country.

Anyway, cutting to the crap. I'm not going to write about myself for now, I'm just going to write about how happy I am that we decided to go to the government center.

The government center is usually where my parents and I go jogging in the morning. We were actually planning to jog there tonight, but they were exhausted by the time they arrived home. We went there anyway, and I never regretted it.

I figured that the building at night would be a great place for polishing my virtually nonexistent photography skills because it was really just so pretty. Turns out there was more in store for my camera than just the building.

I wanted to take an HDR-esque picture like the one my friend took some time ago, tinkering with the shutter speed and stuff. I guess I failed, but it's not a bad shot, right?

Also, the faint squiggly lines you see beside the tall jet of water are actually people walking in front of my camera.

Here's a closer, less yellow shot from a different vantage point. I set the shutter speed to 3 seconds, which is why the pool looks like it's made of ice. I'd be dreaming if it were.

The place doubles as a picnic spot for most people living in and visiting the city. It's turning into our pride and joy of some sort and I hope it stays that way for a long, long time.

Going to school in a different, more metropolitan city gives me the privilege to compare their people and cultures. Personally I think my city had more refined people than the other, more metropolitan city. I suppose it still comes from the time this city was chock full of big shots back when the sugar industry was booming.

Those are people having their picture taken, by the way.

This guy was playing his keyboard outside. At first I thought it was canned music, but then I saw him. It was wonderful. The music can be heard all over the place. It was like being in a ball or something, when you close your eyes.

Just kidding. But really, it did feel like there was a dinner.

I was mildly surprised when I saw these people. I was also a bit happy that they went around like it was normal. It really ought to be normal, in my opinion. Remember that time when I wrote about my classmates backhandedly ostracizing me for wearing boots? I'll be perfectly at home with these guys, and they're perfectly at home here, so I guess I'll be perfectly at home here.

They were nice, too:

They let me take their picture.

And I had my picture taken with their duck, too.

I'm wearing a Sesame Street tee, checked shorts and Dr. Martens mary janes. I wish I dressed up for this.

This is my failed attempt at bokeh photography. It doesn't work from afar.

It's such a pity that I didn't get to spend much of my teenage life in this awesome city. I hope it stays awesome for a very long time.

He who trims himself to suit everyone will soon whittle himself away.

~Raymond Hull

1. I love Kanye West. Okay, I wouldn't go in public screaming "I LOVE YOU KANYE LET ME HAVE YOUR BABIES" but seriously, I think he's awesome. Honestly I didn't care about what he did to Taylor Swift. I'm not Taylor Swift's biggest fan.

That made no sense at all, yeah?

I've noticed that there's barely a Kanye song that I would put off listening to, which is really kind of a big deal since even my most favorite singers have had times when I overlook them in favor of something else. And on top of that, he's his own person. I think that's cool. It's kind of hard to stay as your own person when a lot of people are expecting you to do too many drastic things.

2. On top of that, I knew about Daft Punk because of Kanye West, so plus points there. Okay, so, I heard and read about Daft Punk in passing, since One More Time was played so many times back when the radio was prominently playing in the house, and I looked up Phoenix once and it mentioned Daft Punk. They used to be in a band with Laurent Brancowitz of Phoenix, but then they decided to try electronica and Laurent wasn't up for it, so he broke away and joined his brother's band. I think. I read that somewhere, don't take it from me.

3. I DOWNLOADED THE ENTIRE ALIVE 2007 ALBUM (would you call it an album?) AND I AM SO HAPPY although, it really feels different when you have the actual CD.

Oh, and –

Old school Daft Punk + Laurent Brancowitz! Oh god. I find this strangely amusing.

I shall get all the other Daft Punk albums and pray that there will be another Daft Punk concert and that I shall be able to attend it.

4. I also watched a Daft Punk interview. It was kind of hard to comprehend since they have such heavy accents and you couldn't lip-read through the masks, so I resorted to laughing at their crazy antics instead. It's also amusing how they spoke English when they can just speak French – there wasn't a need to speak English; there were Japanese subtitles.

5. The Stylish Wanderer's real name is Minnie! How cute is that?!

So cuuuute! I wish she were my little sister.

Erm...well, that wouldn't do, because she's taller than me. But, whatever. I would trade my younger sister for Minnie.

6. None of the images belong to me. :)

Life's challenges are not supposed to paralyze you, they're supposed to help you discover who you are.

~Bernice Johnson Reagon

Or, if you ask me, I'd have

This is me being nine years late.

And, this is me being obsessed. I have this tendency to get really hooked up on something I like. Currently it's Daft Punk and this song.

If you're like me, you must have heard it on Kanye West's song Stronger. To be honest, that's how I found out about this. I found out just a few hours ago. What I did was look up Stronger on Wikipedia and this came out:

I was listening to the song, in case you were wondering. Previously, before the two dudes formed Daft Punk, they were in a band with Laurent Brancowitz, who is now with his younger brother in the band Phoenix.

Awesome.

Anyway, after a few hours of listening to my Daft Punk line up of songs, I have decided to pose a challenge to myself:

Have outfits inspired by Daft Punk and their songs. How's that, huh?

I'll keep you posted on how I'm doing.

Oh, and another thing: I like Kanye West. I think he's awesome.

The only rule is don't be boring and dress cute wherever you go. Life is too short to blend in.

~Paris Hilton

That's hot.

And this is me having...fun.

Because it's fun to spin around and throw your hair in all directions while your camera's on continuous shooting and self-timer.

Also, my unstylish big city poked fun at my Dr. Martens boots again. Cowboy boots, they say. I should go around with a goddamn toy horse, they say.

I shall get me

a plaid skirt,

a plain white shirt,

a boyfriend blazer

and brogues, because

I love this guy

and I need an excuse to get me a pair of brogues, a plain white shirt, a boyfriend blazer and a plaid skirt.

By the way, I wish they do, but none of these pictures belong to me. If you don't like them here, please ask nicely and I'll take them down. :)

You laugh at me because I'm different. I laugh at you because you're all the same.

~Jonathan Davis

We usually wear a uniform to school, but this afternoon I went to school not to attend a class, so I wore a navy blue Harajuku Lovers shirt and a pair of not-so-skinny jeans tucked into my Dr. Martens boots.

It's not even that out of the ordinary, yet people were obviously staring. And when I got to school, they stared AND commented.

I guess it's expected for a small city that the population thinks a pair of Dr. Martens boots are cowboy boots. Really lame, if you ask me. I don't really care, though, because they like it.

Then there's this girl who really seems to have a penchant for saying, well, bad things pertaining to me, to me. She offered me a comment that was obviously a backhanded compliment, judging by her tone and her facial expression. Please, girl, chances are that I've lived on this earth longer than you have, so don't think I don't know.

Also, for some odd reason, her backhanded compliment made me want to do something even more odd than a typical shirt-and-jeans-and-Dr. Martens ensemble. Maybe some time I should wear a huge flower on my head, or buy myself a bowler hat and wear it while in school. Or wear a brooch.

Oh, I don't know. Maybe it's kind of bad that I'm letting her affect me, but I don't think it's bad – it's making me think of how I'm supposed to get really creative and still stick to the uniform.

So, if you're reading this, keep your backhanded compliments coming. I feed on them.

The key that unlocks energy is desire. It's also the key to a long and interesting life. If we expect to create any drive, any real force within ourselves, we have to get excited.

~Earl Nightingale

Well, lucky me, because I just found me some inspirational pieces at inspirational prices at TheOutnet.com.

Wait, have I told you that already? Let me tell you that again.

Oh, no, I haven't.

I'm a college student, and I like dressing weird, so CollegeFashion.net became my bible. On one ordinary, unsophisticated day, which was really just yesterday, I decided to part-peruse-part-skim through the archives. I don't know how you do it, but that's what I did. And I found this.

I knew Net-A-Porter existed because it was where I found the Burberry Prorsum leather ankle boots from I don't know which season (I'm sorry! I looked it up but I didn't find it), and I knew from that that they have a lot of nice stuff for sale, so I thought I'd give the article a shot. It's short, so I got to the end, and that's when I discovered TheOutnet.com.

I went to the site and stared at the shoes section, and I swear I felt an adrenaline rush. I mean, seriously, where can you find a pair of shoes that were sold for £1288 that's listed on the site for £258? It's high fashion that's somehow within reach for me.

Yes, I am dreaming. But I believe.

So far this pair is my favorite. It kind of reminds me of the Louis Vuitton Cancan pumps that I again can't remember from which season. I'm thinking it's FW09 though, but I'm not sure.

Anyway, the shoes are by Jil Sanders and the original price is £627.20, and it's up on The Outnet for £250.88. Sizes IT 35 to IT 41 are available, except for IT 35.5.

I also checked out the trench coats and found an Aquascutum trench beside a Burberry trench, which I found kind of funny, really.

The Aquascutum trench is nice because it looks really classic with a really unexpected twist:

Sadly, it doesn't come in my size. I'll probably get a good tailor to make me a trench like that, but, I don't know.

And I still prefer the classic Burberry trench. Don't get me wrong, it's cute. It doesn't come in my size either, though.

Go to The Outnet.com. Go. Now.

You've got to get up every morning with determination if you're going to go to bed with satisfaction.

~George Lorimer

I wasn't able to take a satisfactory photo of what I was wearing yesterday, so to make up for it, I will talk about Burberry.

You saw that one coming. This blog should be renamed "Burberry" or something.

For most people, Burberry is pretty much out of the budget. This iconic Burberry trench:

costs $795. And the catwalk collection, Burberry Prorsum, currently has this:

which will set you back $3595.

I suppose most people who have a job can save up for a Burberry trench of any price. But then there's the part of the population who don't have jobs and still want a Burberry trench. Half of them are living under their parents' house and are called "kids".

I am one of those kids.

Now, most companies selling garments cater to this demographic, but they assume that by the time a person reaches the age of 15 she can already wear her mom's Ivybridge. Some kids don't, though.

Case in point: Me. I'm a kids' size 14 and the kids' Ivybridge on the Burberry website is my size.

I'm 17.

:)

PS. My mom doesn't like Burberry. :(

Today is my mom's birthday and I'm dressed up. I'll post the pictures maybe tomorrow. Yeah.

Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity.

~Seneca

My sister asked if I wanted to go to the mall. I said yes, then the first thing I put on was my school uniform.

Well, I didn't want to be dressed as a slob, but I had only a little time to prepare, so I yanked my school uniform from my bag and put it on. Oh, and I haven't showed you my school uniform yet. I will, just you wait.

I think my wearing my uniform to the mall makes me overdressed once you see what other people wear when they go to the mall. I at least wore something presentable. Complete with school ID.

We went to the mall because she wanted to look for a cocktail dress to wear for my mom's birthday this Friday. We left without a cocktail dress and a few nice casual skirts.

And another thing: I know this is so last year (or a year and a half ago) but the Tory Burch Reva jelly flats...kinda hurt.

Mine are black.

It doesn't hurt too much and I actually use them to school because we're required to wear black shoes and when it rains here it pours and it's not good for the synthetic leather shoes I buy for school – well, that's a mouthful – but the thing is, the heels aren't cushioned. So, they hurt. I went inside the dressing room despite not having anything to try on, simply because there was a chair inside and my feet needed a break. I'll probably get me those jelly insoles so my feet can stay comfy.

Other than that, I think they're fine.
